How to have your ultimate self care night!

After a long harsh day, where maybe you felt a range of emotions- and maybe some of them were negative, the best thing you can do is return to yourself. Take comfort in yourself, soothe yourself, show up for yourself. Be your own best friend.

First of all, a self care night means actually giving yourself love. Actually taking the time to do what makes you happy and loved and appreciated. People often think that to feel loved and appreciated you need other people to make you feel that way??? That’s so wrong! Why would you put how you feel and your emotions in the hands of others when you could so easily give it to yourself?

So get the space all cozy and comfy with blankets and pillows because this night is the YOU night!

shotaro would most definitely take you on a picnic, he just feels like a picnic kind of guy. he’d pack so many cute little snacks and even make the meal into characters such as ‘ hello kitty ‘ just to see you smile. i feel like he’d just love to spend quality time with you. both of your feelings are already known to each other, but for shotaro, he just LOVES spending time together, no matter what you guys will do. watching other people on the grass while you talk about anything and everything, sharing old stories and listening to music.

eunseok’s seems a bit basic, as he loves rocks, but he would definitely take you to a crafts store where you guys can decorate your own rocks / stones. he’d paint all sorts of characters while thinking of you and you guys would spend hours in there. might i even say you guys stay up until the shop closes. but at the end of the day, he would hand you a bag full of the rocks he painted and kiss your forehead. giving you the rocks as a first date gift.

some people might think sungchans first date idea would be something energetic and interesting, but somehow i feel like he would much rather have a quiet, indoors, cuddle party. seems a bit much for a first date, but thats what pulls you both closer. you both take turns putting on your favorite movies, you watch old cartoons and make popcorn, even order pizza. he’d definitely be the kind of guy to have an arm around your waist, but waits for you to lean in first for a cuddle. he’d want you to be comfortable at your own pace. but once you guys cuddle, he never lets you go. <3

i feel like wonbin would be so nervous and have a whole plan set out for your first date, but as you two go along the plans, it all starts to not work out. like he’d take you on a drive to a beautiful place, but on your way back, the car stops working. he’d get so embarrassed and awkward, apologizing so many times but that is why you like him, nothing is perfect. you like the reality of it all. being with him feels like a dream, but you get to help build the dream with him. you’d hold his face and give him a soft peck before suggesting to call a car shop, while you admire the view. so, in the end it worked out anyway!

seunghan is definitely a disney land kind of boyfriend. seunghan IS the disney princess. he would love bringing you on his favorite rides and meeting his favorite characters with you. he’d excitedly show you where to get the good food and buy you so many plushies. he’d be so cute omg, you would find it so enjoyable to watch him be so excited about such little things. he would definitely also buy accessories to dress you both up like characters.

sohee feels like a gamer kind of guy, he’d take you do a gaming cafè, then to an arcade, and then back home to play more games. but he’d also be very competitive, you guys would have fun bickering and making bets on who will win which game. playfully push each other to try and make the other lose, i feel like he would lose a lot to you but the one time he actually did win, he would jump up and dance around before pulling you into a quick kiss. but he’d get so embarrassed and shy afterwards which you find just so adorable of him.

anton would definitely want to do crafts and stuff with you. more likely, legos. he loves his legos, but you as well. you guys would buy all sorts of sets and take them back to his place to build them. he would put on music and then the building starts! i feel like even though you both like each other romantically, he’d be a great mix of boyfriend and best friend. you guys would bicker and push each other around to see who could build faster. but by the end of it, you won. at least you thought you did, anton would then show you his set. which was you. this man would build you with legos and give it to you as a gift.

Some movies that stylized their animation before Spider-Verse in 2018.

Fantasia 2000 by Disney in 1999. It takes CGI and 2D animation and mix them together.

The Peanuts Movie 2016 by Blue Sky's. It was mostly 3D, but the expressions and motions had 2D in them. Which is beyond creative because they only had dots for eyes and a line for a mouth. Which limits expressions, but the 2D lines they had, like when they fall or jump, really add expressions to the charaters. The background looked very flat as if the characters were standing in front of a painted scenery and were performing on stage. Super cute.

Captain Underpants 2017. By Dreamworks. Same as Peanuts' Movie. Made to look like they were in a book, and the movements were very Loony Toon style.

Trolls franchise 2016 by Dreamworks. I can go on for hours on how creative this franchise got with their animation. They used scrapbook materials to build their world. The water is fabric, the waterfall are streamers, the waves are marbles, the sand is glitter, the forest is fuzzy, the ground looks like a carpet, the fire looks like troll hair, the Funk Trolls kingdom are mirror's and reflective material, the Rock Trolls kingdom is leather, the Classical Trolls kingdom are cotton balls, it's endless creativity. They even hired a professional to sculpt a forest with fabrics and glitter so they could get an idea of how they were gonna make this world. AND they created a whole new program just to animate glitter. The same way Spider-Verse had to create one to animate Hobbie. Yeah, Spider-Verse was not the first film to do that. It was Trolls 2016. And then the franchise adds in live action and 2D animation here and there, and that makes it more unique and gives an 80s style to the film.

And then we have other films that also made their world building look unique. Book of Life made their characters look like traditional puppets in Mexico. Lego Movie made it look like toys were moving around. Like if a kid were actually playing with them. Is their any smearing in the Lego Movie? I swear every frame is clear with no stretching or smearing.

Finally, the one that I feel like deserves a lot of credit because it was the one that was experimenting with 2D and 3D animation waaaaaaaay before Spider-Verse.

This is just the intro to the 3rd film.

Kung Fu Panda franchise 2008 by Dreamworks. The 1st film has a small dash of 2D in Shifus flash back. I think. But the 2nd film in 2011 100% has that mix of 2D and 3D. Epically during the training montage for Po and Shen. The lighting looked 2D on 3D modles. And there were times in the 3rd film where it was meant to look like Chinese art. And you see this combination throughout the entire film. The animated shorts are meant to look like traditional Chinese art as well. And they look great!

I have no problem with Spider-Verse being the one who finally broke the mold and inspired other animated films to do the same. But can we acknowledge that Kung Fu Panda was the one that was experimenting with it the most? Unless there's one that I'm over looking way before 2008. But the Dreamworks Kung Fu Panda franchise was the one that walked so Spider-Verse could run!

Okay but can we normalize writing about female characters being just like, a total meathead in the relationship?

I say that for lack of a better word.

Now; don’t get me wrong, I love a good sexy fic where the girl has no idea what tf is going on and the guy is just the man with a plan, or a good fashioned (AGE APPROPRIATE) mentor x student dynamic, (I repeat, in a specific fic that will contain two consenting adults.)

What I’m talking about is more along the lines of tropes we’ve normalized.

Writing is such a broad subject. Specifically, writing your characters.

We would be here for the next 300 years (maybe all the avatar movies will be out by then?) and we still wouldn’t cover everything.

And no. I’m not talking about the generalized ‘big strong man comes along and rescues the helpless damsel’, as much as that tends to bother me, I’m going a bit smaller.

I’m talking making your male character cry like a Disney princess at a wishing well and still making him a loveable, sexy, strong protagonist that doesn’t have any kind of ‘loss of masculinity’ throughout the story.

In talking about a female character who punches the shit out of a tree like a Minecraft character for 30 minutes straight because she’s really pissed off.

I’m talking about a girl grabbing a guy by the waist and kissing him.

You know what else is so funny? We can do that all without having their dynamic of sexual encounters be ‘she’s into dudes who dress up in skirts for her’ or ‘he wants a girl who will boss him around’

And of course; there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with those things. I am not kink shaming anyone. What I’m trying to get at here is that some people may think certain traits that are displayed would stereotypically reflect their sexual preferences.

Like; ‘oh that guy cried over a movie? Yeah. He probably wears a dress and makeup for his wife in bed’

Yk? That’s just getting old at this point.

I love seeing writers, filmmakers, and artists who are running wild with this concept and creating characters and dynamics that reflect all types of personalities and ‘abnormal’ gender identifying traits.

And guess what? Your male protagonist can absolutely cry over a book or movie and still portray dominance.

Your female protagonist can absolutely be the type of girl who beats the shit out of a random object because she’s pissed and afterwards paint her nails because she feels like it!

I’m currently writing a Neteyam x Reader, and I’m experimenting with some of these ideas myself. Writing more ‘emotionally natured’ male characters without straying them away from their original canonical structure.

This is getting long and it’s 3:54 in the morning where I live and I don’t want to wake my partner so I’m gonna wrap it up with this,

Dudes can be 6’00, built like a rock, and cry like a Disney princess.

Here's a wholesome idea for Reincarnation. You've already established that Reincarnated Mirabel never had a symbol of her own in real life, the butterfly thing was made up by Disney and was actually just the symbol for the family in general, so what if for her birthday or Christmas, any event where they'd give presents really, they give her a dress decorated with a unique symbol that represents her, perhaps a needle and thread or a book, something unique that highlights her natural gifts and what makes Mirabel Mirabel

None of the Madrigals wears their individualised symbols now, or at least not to the extent of their first lives. It would look weird in the modern era. (That’s not to say they won’t wear something that relates to them, but it would be more of a coincidence than something done intentionally). And it’s enough of a struggle getting Mirabel clothes, let alone something so specific.

And circling back to how weird it would be.

But I don’t want to leave you with nothing, so fuck it, let’s just talk about the girls fashion senses (in the modern era) and shopping.

First off, there’s the obvious change in fashion. They lived in a rural Colombian town stuck in the 1890s, the idea of an accidentally exposed knee would have been scandalous. Never mind some of the outfits seen daily today.

Isabela and Luisa need little convincing to embrace the modern style of dress. Partially because they are both a lot more confident in their own skin than Dolores and Mirabel, and are more than happy to show it off. They didn’t hesitated to ditch the long dresses, skirts and blouses. In fact, you’d probably have to pay them to dress like that again.

Isabela is quite punk rock/biker in her style, which can change. It’s Isa. Leather jacket, metal studs/spikes (because they replicate cacti spines), cool boots, etc. Think Rosa Diaz. She gets very into the idea of dyeing and painting over her purchases, because she likes to have a splatter of colour or several. Very modern and trendy in her style, she’s the most likely to be stopped and complimented in the street. She knows how to dress her body (came with the perfectionism) and is obnoxiously good at it - she usually gets invited by the others to help them with shopping.

Luisa, same with her last life, prioritises comfort. She is a lot more casual in her wardrobe - she can be chic but still comfortable, okay? Ironically, think Jessica Darrow. I’m telling you right now, if she and Jess were the same size, she’d have stolen her entire wardrobe years ago. At the same time, she’s probably the one you could convince to wear some of the most ridiculous pieces of clothing. She’s the theatre kid of the four, always happy to dress up and entertain.

Dolores was a lot more hesitant, but has slowly come around to modern clothing. Very romantic in her style - though she still wears a lot of skirts and dress, never as long as Mirabel - but also on a similar casual line as Luisa. Outfits should be practical, then again that is a sentiment they all share. She’s also more vintage than the previous two but not quite Mirabel’s level of historical (accuracy), she’ll happily mix and match things from several periods and have to deal with Mira complaining for the rest of the day.

Mirabel won’t wear something later than 1950s. Most of her wardrobe is vintage pieces or things made to look vintage. Heels, blouse, full skirt, scarf, etc. Think Sandy in Grease, but she never ditches her original for style a man and does embroidery. Honestly, if she had it her way, she would be dressed in full medieval garb with a veil and headdress, but she knows that she’d get a lot of weird looks for that, so this is the most modern you’re getting. As the years go on, however, she does change her style slightly with her increased comfort and better mental health, embracing a more relaxed feel.

In addition, these girls lived in a time where everything was still tailor made to fit for each person, subsequently getting a new piece of clothing was a bigger deal than it is now. So, the idea of sizes and everything being pre-made, and then also online shopping, was probably a shock to the system.

Isabela greatly enjoys going out shopping. She has zero patience and likes that she can just try on/buy as much as she pleases. Dolores also likes it, more for the independence it gives them. Whereas before the tailor would essentially be the one dressing and styling you, now you are pretty much doing it yourself.

Luisa and Mirabel don’t but that’s because of the bad experiences they have with sizing. Some shops are really good with having things in shop that fit Luisa’s height and muscles in women’s clothes, some are pretty shit with it. Inclusive sizes are only just becoming something of importance to most brands.

Mirabel’s issue is actually with the sizing system, which she has written many an essay on to complain. She is too small for women’s clothing, so she is pretty much stuck in the kids section. However, girls clothes obviously don’t account for fully grown breasts. She can get bottoms, skirts and shoes perfectly fine, but anything else? She’s screwed.

Shopping for swimsuits/bikinis is a nightmare for the pair. Which is a shame because Luisa loves beach/swimwear and gets really excited for it, only to be repeatedly disappointed. Mirabel always feels really uncomfortable at showing more skin and after not finding something that fits, ends up very upset with herself.

So yeah, it’s fun.

I am bored, so let me make a list about my favorite random things about Quack Pack (or small things that i notice and i found interesting that i remember at the moment):

The triplets see Donald not only as an uncle, but as a full literal father for them. This is explicit in the 3rd episode, where they go to a medieval kingdom and in their analogy, if Donald (their uncle) is a king, that would make them princes! But well, you know that the lineage of the royal crown is passed from father to son, so as much as we know as viewers that Donald is a father figure to them, it's great to see this being reinforced by the triplets theirselves :) Another occasion, is that they don't seem bothered when Donald introduces himself for the others as their father (made very clear in episode 31)

Huey has PTSD and Black Cat phobia (and cat allergy as well)

The boys took a lot more habits from Daisy than from Donald, like the facial expressions, the skincare routine and filing the nails (those last two is shown by Huey), and this proves that Daisy is very present in their lives :)

As mentioned by Daisy, they can't have a normal travel without someone ending on the jail

Louie is coded neurodivergent!

I really like how Dewey's Middle Kid Syndrome is written in QP. Yeah, i know it's something showed in all the duckverse versions of Dewey, but i love how QP introduces this. Dewey loves his brothers, but sometimes he feels suffocated and his own space is being invaded, but his brothers don't do that on purpose and he knows it, so while he fights the urge to open up to them (something he can't do well), he also doesn't want to make them upset. He thought that his desire to want his own space is to want to be alone, but then he realizes that he doesn't like being alone, but that he just need a moment alone sometimes. And so, Dewey's lack of communication about this issue ends up making his brothers mistake that he's stressed, and they try to cheer him up and show support (in a hyperprotective way) that ends up leaving him more suffocated. And then when Dewey finally speaks out and walks away, it makes Huey and Louie realize that they never had a personal space, because their personality during their childhood was based on the fact that they were triplets, that they complemented each other, that they had to share things, and that meant they didn't have their own personal space. Huey and Louie get into an argument about each other's bad attitudes that might have upset Dewey, but then they realize that some of the other's habits actually really bother each other. I love how they end up resolving this issue, and how their relationship improves from there on through the episodes.

Dewey has sweet tooth!

Many QP episodes makes a lot of references to others disney tv shows and rock music hits in 90's (Dewey, Louie and Huey are into rock!)

Louie is an environmental activist and opposes trafficking and wild animals

Louie is a multi-instrumentalist! He is shown to know how to play drums, harmonica and violin.

Dewey has a strong artistic connection. He writes texts, poems and paintings!

Dewey is also the "teatral kid"

Dewey is shown to be interested in physics, aliens and halloween.

Apparently, one of Dewey's hobbies is building and inventing things! This is shown in some episodes.

Although the triplets don't work directly for Kent Powers, they often help Daisy and Donald with work, like doing the recordings and giving them script ideas (and it's funny, because Kent himself forgets about it and thinks they are his employees)

This is shown MANY times during the show. The triplets have their own code language. They use a specific word to represent an idea that must be executed like "haircut", "special treatment" (and others that i can't remember right now)

Huey is the only one of the triplets who knows how to drive (implying they are around 16 years old)

Huey have trouble at sleeping, and have a tendency to have nightmares

If you watched Quack Pack, you may have noticed that Louie started to guard his thoughts more after being constantly scolded by Huey, and became more audacious and rebellious episodes later

Louie has trouble understanding sarcasm and identifying danger. It's also notable that he doesn't understand some common social situations.

Huey is quite superstitious, especially because he defends the idea that nothing happens by chance and that everything has a purpose, and that the universe always seems to conspire in his favor

Dewey's full name in Quack Pack is Deuteronomy

As much as Huey, Dewey and Louie are the triplets nicknames, they nickname their own nicknames LOL some exemples are Hueson, Dewman/Dewis and Lou-Lou

In Episode 11, Dewey admits he likes the idea of ​​being a woman.

I think it's cute that despite Huey's gruff personality, he is constantly worried about the well-being of his family, like disapproving of the amount of candy Dewey eats and worring if he doesn't feeling well, or when Louie gets into trouble (Huey always gets desperate because he knows Louie's tendency to be in danger) and when Donald ends up being the victim of scams (which makes him furious with whoever is messing with his uncle)

I love Daisy's dynamic with the triplets. She is always encouraging them, protecting them, worrying and listening to them. This makes her a true mother figure for them, and I am happy to see that they reciprocate that affection and respect for her.

RAPUNZEL: I feel like Apollo is probably the most obvious option. She has a talent for singing and is incredibly creative: she sews her own outfits, makes candles and paints every blank space on her walls with colourful depictions of the things she sees and dreams of. Not even mentioning the healing powers. With the ungodly amount of time she had trapped in that tower, I'm gonna guess (using all the scenes of her completing her MANY hobbies) that she has a lot of knowledge of the most random shit. Also, the whole single drop of sunlight thing. I suppose you could also argue Asclepius as her parent, since she did manage to bring Eugene back to life but I'm gonna stick with Apollo.

MERIDA: So, not a godly parent but I'm counting it.. She'd be a Hunter of Artemis. The events of the entire movie are ripples caused by the rock that is Merida's refusal to get married (she's so aromantic, I love her). She'd much preferred to spend her time out in nature, shooting her arrows and doing everything that isn't expected of her as a princess. Again, I think it's pretty easy to place her.

MULAN: Okay, so my first thought was Ares. She's courageous and a brilliant fighter; an inexperienced woman surrounded by assumably-more-experienced men, yet she manages to be better than basically all of them. She's a victor of war. Maybe Mars, since I believe he's basically the more controlled and less brutal version of Ares? (atleast in HOO, anyway). You could also say Athena, she's strategic and seems to easily come up with strong plans mid action (the disguise herself as a man, the avalanche, the men disguise themself as women, the fan, the diy zipline. There's probably more that I've forgot). Maybe there's other obvious options but I'm lazy and sticking with my first thoughts but I'd be happy to hear other ideas.

MOANA: So, Poseidon was the first thought, for obvious reasons. She's got the whole connection with water and a longing to sail the seas that's linked towards her heritage, culture and it's history. Maybe, she's like Frank, a descendant of Poseidon with a family that's always seemed to be connected to the sea god (minus the shapeshifting powers, obviously). You could also link her to Palaemon, who I don't know much about so feel free to correct me, the protector of sailors (I believe he is a sea deity, or atleast thats what I read??). Choosing a greek deity for Moana is low-key hard cause she already has dieties (is that a word??) within her story so I'm gonna leave it at that because why not.

AURORA: So, most people's minds probably jumped to Hypnos immediately 'cause she's.. well.. sleeping beauty. Or maybe even Aphrodite 'cause, again, sleeping beauty. I can't argue against that because those are very valid ideas, though I'm more for daughter of Aphrodite than Hypnos because the whole sleep thing wasn't something she willingly wanted and was actually just tricked into doing. My mind kind of went to Pan- if thats possible- because I distinctly remember a scene with her in the woods, connecting with woodland creatures/wild (I don't know anything about this movie, help).

SNOW WHITE: Okay so I'm gonna say Aphrodite and leave it at that because I remember NOTHING about this movie other than her step-mother or someone wanted her dead for the absolutely treacherous act of being prettier.

ANNA, my beloved: Definitely not the most obvious option, but I want to go with Aphrodite again. She has an obsession with romance, she's desperate to be loved and feel love. She wants the butterflies, the pounding heart, the hand holding and the warm expanding feeling in her chest when she sees her lover. She literally tries to marry a man she just met. I also love this idea because it goes against almost every stereotype of a child of Aphrodite; she's a fighter, fierce and easily capable of defending herself; she isn't weak or helpless. She's one of the few princesses who gets the man whilst still being presented as a total badass. Furthermore, she loves so strongly in non-romantic ways too. She constantly stands at that door, trying to reconnect with a sister who suddenly refuses to talk to her. She SACRIFICES herself for that same sister.

ELSA: Boreas, he's the god of winter and ice. She has ice powers. I can't be bothered trying to think of a less obvious option but feel free to tell me about one that comes to your mind.

ARIEL: Triton. It's literally canon.

BELLE: Minerva is probably a very obvious option, if she can have kids the same way Athena did (can't remember). Belle values books and knowledge, the wisdom that comes with reading. She feels like the type of girl who would love to go to school and Minerva is supposedly the goddess of that. I'd like to be a bit less obvious and probably a lot more wrong (oh well) so I'm gonna also say one of the Muses is a possible option. Wikipedia tells me they were considered goddesses of literature, science and the arts. If I had to pick one I'd pick Erato probably, the muse of love poetry since, if my memory serves me correctly, Belle was reading a romance??

CINDERELLA: Maybe the child of Hestia? That is, if Hestia decided one day to throw away her oath of virginity or found a way to have kids without that. I'm not sure entirely why, it's just a vibe. Maybe favoured by Hera, since a marriage literally saved her from a life of abuse? I don't remember much of this movie, whoops.

Sorry I haven't been answering requests as much lately, work has been hell. Even so, I wanted to answer this one because I think about dad!julian a lot.

I think that Julian isn't as hard of a dad as he pretends to be. I think he's a big softie. I think if he had the money, he would buy things for his child. I don't think he'd buy everything the kid wanted, because Julian is always in the business of saving money, but I think he'd spoil his child a bit - boy or girl.

I think, though, that Julian treats boys differently than girls. I think that's just in his nature. I think he'd be very overprotective of a girl, because he knows how terrible boys can be (he was one of those terrible boys) but I also think he'd be equally as stern with a boy. Either way, he doesn't want his kid going down the same path he did.

Julian stresses the importance of school all of the time. He wants his kids to go to college and even has a savings jar for them. I think that he'd actually kind of be a hard-ass and push his kid towards a more lucrative career, something like a doctor or lawyer. If his kid wanted to do something less lucrative, like art, it'd be a really big fight. I think Julian is the kind of person to be like "either you're going to go to a career that can make you money or you're going to make your own career." I think it'd cause a big fight between you and Julian honestly, but eventually you'd probably convince him to just support the kid no matter what they wanted to do. "If they're going to be an artist, at least let them be an artist without crazy debt." Despite how ardently against art he is, if he had a child that was an artist he'd keep every painting and show up to every art showing.

Julian is the kind of dad to show up to every event. He strikes me as the guy who just didn't have parents who were present in his life.

Julian would definitely give their kid a bit of daddy issues, I'm sorry. A man like that doesn't just change overnight. I think he's quick to punish and ground his kid, specifically for misbehaving in school. He just desperately wants his kids to be successful.

Julian is a very affectionate father, I feel. He likes to hug and kiss his kids and isn't afraid to express fatherly affection. Throughout the series, Julian has always openly held his partner's hand, hugged them, or kissed them in front of others. I think that dad!Julian would be disgusting affection with you to the point where his kids would be like 'ew, gross'.

It doesn't matter what school event there is, Julian is always there. He's literally at every single: holiday party, open house, meet the teacher, choir concert, art showing, sports event - you name it, he's there.

He's the kind of guy to like to take his kids on trips. I actually like the idea that Julian is finally able to take that cruise with everyone like he intended before he landed in jail. I think going on a cruise with his kids, partner, and chosen family is actually a really big deal for him. It's a big fucking mess and everyone traumatizes the cruise ship but it's fun.

On a more emotional note, I think the only way Julian would stop drinking would be if he became a dad. I think his kid would ask him about the glass he always carries around and that simple question would rock him so much he'd work on putting it down. It'd be a long time before he finally kicks it (alcoholism is a bitch), but he'd do it for his kids. (Edit: someone wonderful in the comments mentioned julian would carry around a cup of coke instead and I love it so much, I’m going to add that thought up here to read)

Christmastime is a fucking nightmare, but I think he'd go from hating Christmas (I feel like Julian has Christmas trauma) to enjoying to take his family to see all of the Christmas lights and shit. Everyone goes to Julian's for Christmas and he's kind of sick of it, but also secretly loves it.

Are these okay? I have some more, but these were my favorite ones I thought of.

I finally read the junior novelization of Disney’s new Peter Pan and Wendy and although for the most part, it sticks to the film, there are some really great moments that I’m guessing might have been in earlier drafts which got cut but made it into the book. A few of my favorite additions/changes include…

- I think this may have been in the background in the film but is more noticeable in the book… When John and Michael are playing, one of them says, “Watch out for the crocodile” as Nana is playfully nipping at their heels. I like the crocodile/Nana parallel, as in the stage version they typically use the same actor for both animal roles and it seems like a nice little nod to that.

- John says the watch helps him sleep when Mr. Darling asks for it back after their game. George reluctantly lets him keep it but tells him to be careful because “a man’s timepiece is of the utmost importance.” This almost seems to be going back to the stage idea of George as a kind of alternate for Hook. Here, both men have an interesting relationship with time which we don’t see in the final film.

- Nana is the one who catches the shadow as it goes downstairs. Another nod to the original here where Nana is the whole reason the shadow is pulled away from Peter to begin with.

- Although we see Mr. Smee use an ear horn in the film, in the novelization, it’s pretty explicitly spelled out that he is hard of hearing due to long-term exposure to canon-fire. There are several funny moments more reminiscent of the animated film, but the comedy is less “Smee is stupid” and more just, “Smee can’t hear well and often gets mixed up because of that.”

- When we first meet Hook, he is writing a letter in his cabin (Who is he writing to?) and the cabin is said to smell somewhat like incense. Also, for whatever reason, his hair is described as being dark, like the more traditional Hook. Maybe Law’s look hadn’t been finalized until after the book was written?

- We get to see paintings on the walls of the tunnel that Tiger Lily takes the kids through to get to Skull Rock. She explains that they tell the story of her ancestors and how her great-great grandmother led them to Neverland and helped everyone hide underground in safety when Hook first laid siege on the island until they were ready to fight back. It also seems that her tribe has a history of female chiefs.

- This is a little random but I have to wonder about the theme of hearing/being heard in this story, the novel especially. On one end of the spectrum, Hook seems to have especially acute hearing, picking up on the ticking as well as Wendy’s singing and later Peter’s return long before anyone else seems to notice. Then, of course, there’s Smee, who as we mentioned earlier, is very hard of hearing after years of listening to canon-fire. Peter CAN hear just fine but often CHOOSES not to, putting words in Tink’s mouth, for example. And then we have Wendy, who seems to try to hear everyone even if she can’t always easily do so. She listens to both Peter and Hook’s side of the story, and she repeatedly tries to understand Tink even if she can’t actually hear/understand what she’s saying until the very end. I don’t have a fully fleshed out idea of what exactly they may have been trying to say with all this, but it’s an interesting observation.

- Bellweather actually gets a personality! He is the fixer upper of both John’s watch (which he somehow got back from Hook??) and Michael’s teddy bear.

- In the book, it is said that Hook and Pan weren’t just friends…they ran away together and promised never to grow up or go back, and it makes the feelings of hurt and betrayal that much more painful.

- We get an extra scene on the way back to the ship after Hook “kills” Peter where the captain actually laments that Peter is really gone for good. He seems to recognize in that moment that revenge really didn’t feel as good as he expected it to and, like it or not, they need each other to function. He also seems surprised he actually drew blood. Apparently, they have rarely ever hurt one another in the past physically (with the major exception of his hand loss…) and it’s almost a game to Hook as much as it is to Peter. Hook speaks to the captured Tink at one point and asks her, since she was there at the beginning, if things would inevitably end up with one of them dying or if they might have gone differently. This Hook is very childlike at moments, and this is one of them.

- Mr. Smee flies!!!! During the final battle, Mr. Smee finds himself in a sticky situation and tells Tink he honestly never wanted to hurt anyone. He just wanted to fly. Tink apparently believes him to be harmless enough and allows it. Instead of asking at the end, “Did you see me, Cap’n?! I’m floatin’! I’m alive! I didn’t drown!” he asks if he saw him flying. I’ve always thought Smee had a kind, childlike heart, and if anybody deserves to fly, it’s him, so this part made my heart very happy.

- Wendy and Peter actually share a kiss (a real one!) near the end before he leaves. Wendy recognizes that Peter isn’t ready to grow up yet but tells him that maybe someday he will be and then they can be together again. It’s an incredibly sweet moment and gives a little more closure to things that Peter’s departure in the film does, and I wish we had gotten it in the final version.

- As they get back to Neverland, Peter spots Hook and Smee (who is still flying!) and pulls Hook up onto the ship, taking his friend with him back to the island for more adventures. While I do think the film’s ending with Law’s Hook smiling up at Peter works well as it is, this moment was just the icing on the cake for me. It cements that they are absolutely back on the same team again and all is forgiven.

Pete held great pride in his son’s talent at first, but when the attention gets too far (from entire school students giving him unwanted attention to fans stalking the house of Pete’s), young PJ was traumatized and refused to go to school. Upset with the entertainment’s lack of concern for his mental health, PJ suddenly announce his retirement and decided work in a car scale. Although PJ still have lingering dreams in acting career, his father would forbid him from being in any drama classes or acting activities. So, PJ turned his interest in artistic hobbies and casual sports. At one point, his mother Peg visited Goofy who had lost his wife from car accident as she was also Glory B’s besets friend. When PJ turned 12, Goof family moved next door and he quickly befriended tomboyish girl Maxine. At first, Pete didn’t like the idea of his son befriending another celebrity’s child. However, he agreed to let PJ becoming friends with Maxine when he heard of her defending his son from bullies in school, finding her “revenge” on them dangerous but borderline satisfying. If his son and Maxine were in danger, Pete and Goofy work together to get them out of trouble. In some occasions, PJ and Maxine babysit his little sister Pistol. In teen years, PJ also befriended Barby Zimmeruski, the girl with enormous love for cheeses. Both her and PJ were aware of Maxine’s popularity with girls due to her image as “handsome girl” and Rox’s romantic feelings for her. Seeing Maxine also share same feelings to him, PJ reluctantly decided to help Maxine impressing him and was seen delighted when hearing of their blooming relationship. During summer vacation, PJ was seen having a camping trip with his entire family and was surprised to see Maxine on a stage with her father and their favorite singer Powerline.

Years later as high school graduate bound for college, PJ and his friends were preparing to leave, excited for their upcoming debut in college X-Game. At the same time, he was hoping to approach the way back to acting career by taking courses necessary for this chance, slowly overcoming his childhood trauma. Although he would be in separate dormitory, he would still hang out with Maxine and Barby during campus hours. During the first day of college skating around the campus, he and his friends grabbed the attention of the X-Games champion team/Fraternity; “the Gammas”. Although, their leader Bradley was more interested in recruiting Maxine. At some point, PJ was surprised to see Goofy as their instructor in “Entertainment Business” and “Performing Arts”, but very invested in his classes. During fierce confrontation between Maxine and Bradley, PJ was seen frowning when Bradley insulted Goofy, but shocked when Maxine retaliated with aggression causing to destroy Bradley’s shirt, and confusion when Bradley escaped the scene with fear. At first encounter in the cafe Bean Scene, and at the night club, he become the love interest of a beret girl named Fabrette who was attracted to him due to his love for performing arts and sharing much in common wit her. He and Barby were seen witnessing when Rox and Stanley started attending their college, but concerned more of Maxine. In the X-Game competition, PJ’s best event was shown to be bike riding as he managed to pass the semi-finals. However, PJ was abruptly removed by the scheme of team Gammas and Bradley’s father as his inline-skating shoes were secretly attached with rockets. Luckily, he was in the infirmary with support of his girlfriend Fabrette, unharmed at the middle of triathlon. Later, he was horrified witnessing his friend Maxine and remaining Gamma teammates blasted to the X-Games wired fabric logo and decided to go to help them. When finding all the incidents and cheats were made by Bradley’s father, PJ and his friends were seen glaring at them as Goofy angrily called him out for choosing his ambition over his son and others’ safety. Days after, PJ watched the social medias making hate comments on Bradley due to alleged “doping” and “cheating”, he was one of the people to express sympathy towards Bradley’s psychological condition. Noticing something off from his behavior, he quickly informed Maxine about it, which led to her saving Bradley from attempt suicide. As Bradley broke down in tears, Maxine, the other Gammas, and PJ proceeded to reassure him.

According to Donald and Goofy, PJ is still a great actor and currently with Maxine, he became a frequent guest star of variety show “Exit Man”. No longer feeling fright of public’s opinion, PJ was open to restart the acting career with support of his friends and his girlfriend Fabrette. At this point, Pete finally conceded and allowed his son’s return in acting, feeling proud of his son’s progress. Along with Barby, PJ becomes a regular witness in observing Maxine, her popularity and growing relationship problems.

Regressor Malia Tate/Hale Headcannons

She doesn't have a set age range that she regresses to. She missed 8 years of her childhood so I really just see her regression being different day to day.

Her regression started off fully involuntary!!! Her friends became her family and so as she felt safe she ended up regressing for the first time! (I want to write this idea)

I think the first time she regressed she was with most of the pack at a movie night or something chill like that. She had no idea what was going on but the others put the pieces together!!!

Omg she loves to bite and chew things!!! Someone has to buy her (and keep on them) chewalry for her because she will forget to bring hers! And trust me she needs it!

Lydia takes her shopping to get 'kid' clothes, toys anything she could possibly want!!!

Once Lydia ended up regressed whilst shopping with Malia and that's when the two girls decided that maybe Peter coming with wasn't such a bad idea (he ended up supervising them 😂)

Oh, it's "What A Time To Be Alive" from their newest album! I'm literally obsessed with it, it's SO good and I am incredibly impressed that they managed to flip to a completely new genre that's so different from their other music and immediately nail it. (I'd embed it here but youtube is evil and hates embedding so here's the link.)

And tbh, if you'll indulge me, Fall Out Boy really is the band that, to me, most encapsulates the spirit of "we can do whatever we want who cares what anyone else thinks". Like all throughout their music is the theme of how expectations are a prison that destroys creativity and the best way to be free is to say fuck it, and I am so fucking inspired by them because of it.

So really, who gives a shit about consistency or sticking to one style or any of that crap! Be an emo rock band unapologetically releasing a goddamn Earth Wind and Fire song. Switch from western cartoon styles to anime to watercolor to oil paints to whatever. Write books and fanfics and poetry and video essays, draw and make animatics and comics and stickers. Stream video games and learn to sing and drop both on the same youtube channel. Make sad things and then happy things and then sad again. Switch genres from project to project just for fun. Because you might make some truly amazing art when you stop limiting yourself to one style, one skill, one hobby, one anything. Just do what you love, do what sparks joy, let your passion take you wherever it takes you, even if you've never been there before.

Like, that's part of why it annoys me so much when I hear people say they don't like when a band tries new stuff, or they wish they'd just stick to the same kind of music that made them popular. Or when I hear people say this about like, literally any type of artist or creator. You do not have to do the same thing forever. We SHOULD try new stuff and drop the old when we've lost interest. Insisting that artists never do anything new is how we get the 50th Marvel movie that's just the same as the last one, or 20 meaningless live-action Disney remakes, or youtubers or streamers or artists who keep saying they WANT to make new content but they lose their audiences when they do so they just keep chugging along with stuff they've lost passion for.

We should let stuff that was good go when it's time has passed and embrace new things, even if we end up not liking them as much, because we only stand to benefit from it. When we let artists and other creators and OURSELVES go out and try new things we get wonderful new creations, and even when we don't we still grow and will make even better stuff next time. We have to try new things and fail and keep going to grow as people and as artists and I will always encourage that.

That's what Fall Out Boy's music is to me, beyond emotional catharsis. It's a reminder that I don't EVER have to be or make just one thing, and that it's better, I'm better, when I don't let anyone convince me I do.

(Anyway that got long and rambly, sorry. And I know FOB aren't the only artists that exemplify this, but I do love them for really going out of their way to make it clear they aren't going to just do one thing forever. Especially because they're proof when people try new stuff they can make amazing art.)

I've been thinking a lot about "the war on masculinity" today and I came to this conclusion: I don't believe there's any grand war being waged on it, or that men are being "pussified", or whatever, but I do have reservations and resentment toward anything that boils down to "if men would just embrace their feminine sides and paint their nails and wear pink and show their soft sides more, everything would be perfect!" and nothing beyond that.

Look. I like stuffed animals, and chick flicks. There was a point in my life where I was a "boy with long hair" (I had dreads and cornrows till I was like, 14) I tell my little brothers and my dad and my roommate and my friends and pretty much everyone I love in my life that I love them and miss them and am proud of them and when I'm sad or insecure like, every day. I'm chill with dudes who like makeup and skirts and pink stuff, and wholeheartedly believe there's merit and letting these guys know they're as sexy and desirable as any flannel wearing, beefed up dude. I'll admit that there was a point in my life where I was that of your standard homophobic middle school straight boy where I turned my nose up at / mocked guys like that, but now I'm older and wiser and learned better and I have no ill will or condescending remarks or anything to say toward them. I know all that soft stuff pretty intimately, and feel no shame in admitting anything of it.

That said: I still kinda hate the idea that in order to be seen as "nonthreatening" I gotta divulge all of these things about myself. I won't say it's a large scale issue, or whatever, but I do sense the hesitation when I see people recommending that men who worry about their positions as patriarchs under patriarchy and what that means for the women and kids and gay people in their lives, who have never explicitly expressed any prior interest in experimenting with their presentation or interests or genders, simply "accept the feminine side they're so obviously in denial of" as the solution to combatting the capitalist white supremacist patriarchy and the rigid gender roles they're beholden to rather than, like, advising those guys to pick what they like about their current interest / presentations and shirking off all the bits that come off as chauvanistic (IE: I'm a heterosexual, working class dude from the south. I like guns, I like fancy pocket knives, gritty rock music, I like old school muscle cars and 90s pickup trucks and doing shit with my hands. I'm also black and a huge nerd, and am fully aware that these subcultures are very gatekeep-y toward women and gay people, let alone myself as another straight dude solely because of the color of my skin, so I just treat everyone that shows any interest in them the same as I would any other dude.) and simply proceeding on as you were before.

Again, I think it's great that men are very openly wearing skirts and painting their nails and watching magical girl animes, and stuff. That shit is wicked, and I know the occassional "friendly reminder that it's ok for boys to be soft" or "I love boys who've undergone the trials and tribulations of unpacking toxic masculinity, I feel so safe around them" post is helping more than it hurts, and generally isn't the grander opinion society draws to and needs to be said as a result. But also.....idk man, you can't be telling me the only way to escape hegemonic masculinity as a man is by being more like Harry Styles. Or by telling girls you listen to Pop Music and cry over Disney movies. Like even in a world without patriarchy, that's not going to be most men. Even under patriarchy, that's not all women. That's not a sustainable mindset. This can't be all there is. Surely there's a way to enjoy action movies and archery as a man without alienating the marginalized people around you or having to compromise yourself.
